Roots and Remedies

Our Story

The Roots and Remedies Department is dedicated to natural wellness, holistic care, and the healing power of plants. At its heart is a thriving haskap berry farm, where nutrient-rich berries are grown and crafted into products that support everyday health. Alongside this work, we offer integrative healing practices such as Brainspotting and Healing Touch, as well as creative outlets like beading and arts and crafts — nurturing wellness, balance, and self-expression in body, mind, and spirit.

Workshops

Roots and Remedies offers hands-on workshops that invite people to learn, create, and reconnect with traditional skills and knowledge. From sewing and beading to harvesting medicinal plants and making salves, each workshop provides practical tools for everyday wellness. By blending land-based learning, therapeutic care, and creative expression, the department fosters balance in physical, emotional, and community well-being.

The Roots and Remedies Department creates meaningful opportunities for community connection. Elder Berry Picking Days bring volunteers together to support elders while giving youth and elders the chance to share knowledge, stories, and time on the land. Beyond these gatherings, a variety of volunteer opportunities encourage involvement, learning, and giving back.

By weaving together land-based practices, therapeutic care, creative expression, and community engagement, Roots and Remedies fosters a balanced approach to physical, emotional, and cultural well-being.
